What is lifelong cover?
In pet insurance, there are 3 types of cover available: 12-month, per condition and lifelong (also known as lifetime). A 12-month policy will only let you claim for a condition for 12 months, whereas a per condition cover will only let you claim until you reach your maximum benefit amount in vet fees. In both cases once the time or financial limit is reached, the condition is excluded from the policy and no further claim can be made.
Lifelong cat and dog insurance is different: your vet fees allowance, let's say £7,000 like with Marks and Spencer Premier, is replenished every year at renewal. You get £7,000 in year 1, £7,000 in year 2 and so on. This means that you always have funds available to claim on an ongoing conditions. Once you start claiming and provided your keep your policy renewed, there will be no exclusion to a medical problem you may be claiming for.
In a nutshell, lifelong pet insurance is the only type of pet health cover that will provide long-term protection for ongoing conditions. It is the most comprehensive type of cover out there.
Why choose lifelong pet insurance?
- Regular, ongoing medical conditions are covered for life
- No medical exclusions once you start claiming
- Vet fees fully replenished to the original maximum benefit each year at renewal
- More possibilities of successful treatments - more money available to try alternative treatments should you be unsuccessful the first time around
- A lifelong friend like your cat or dog deserves a cover that will protect it for life
